Cumann na mBunscol Blitz
Today proved to be a day of mixed emotions for the footballers of Laghey PS. The boys came out victorious in a closely fought final against St. Mary’s Carland, while the girls’ team fell short against a very good Derrylatnee team.
The girls did brilliantly to make it to the final. After winning their first group game they were beaten by both St Brigid’s Brocagh and Derrylatnee before meeting Brocagh again this time exacting their revenge. They produced an excellent effort in the final and can hold their heads up high.
The boys went through the day unbeaten. With groups game wins over Carland, Derrylatnee and Brocagh they then defeated Brocagh in the semi-final. They met Carland in the final and just did enough to come out on top by one goal.
This win takes the boys to the Tyrone finals on June 4th in Garvaghey.
A big thank you to Mr McKenna and Mr Canavan from Derrylatnee for refereeing and organising the event.
